At Oakwood House Care, we understand the importance of engaging and meaningful activities for care home residents. Our goal is to create an environment where residents feel respected, valued, and are able to enjoy their daily lives to the fullest.

As a ‘Good’ CQC rated care home in Colney, Norwich, Oakwood House is committed to providing residents with a wide variety of activities tailored to their individual interests, needs, and abilities. We believe that activities for care home residents should be both fun and therapeutic, offering a range of opportunities to keep everyone engaged, active, and socially connected.

A Week Full of Fun and Engaging Activities

Our team at Oakwood House works hard to create a varied and exciting schedule for residents every week. From gentle exercises to creative arts and crafts, we ensure that every day offers something new to look forward to.

For example, last week was filled with enjoyable activities. On Monday, residents started the week with a relaxing visit from the hairdresser in the morning, followed by a lively game of bingo in the afternoon. On Tuesday, our residents enjoyed a fun-filled “Guess Who?” activity, where they tried to match old photos to familiar faces, followed by gentle exercises to keep everyone moving.

Wednesday offered a creative morning with arts and crafts, with Andrea leading a delightful afternoon session. Thursday’s flower arranging session gave residents a chance to get creative with nature, followed by games in the lounge that sparked plenty of laughter. On Friday, we hosted a trivia session inspired by the popular “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” game show, and then enjoyed more gentle exercises with Joe Smith in the afternoon.

Our weekend was equally enjoyable, with Saturday’s reminiscing activity using Google satellite to revisit meaningful locations, and an afternoon sing-along that lifted everyone’s spirits. On Sunday, we went outdoors for some nature exploration in the morning, followed by a fun-filled Social Sunday with quizzes that brought everyone together for friendly competition.
