August could be another most cheerful month as there were some new activities in Oakwood House Care.
Plan cuttings
At the beginning of the month, our residents experienced plant cuttings. They got a busy morning with lots of cuttings. The team helped residents to prepare all old teapots and compost soil and were supported how to make a perfect cut. Our residents learned how to choose a strong side shoot and cut a long enough one, from 2-4 inches in length, and below a leaf joint. Now, if you visit Oakwood House, you can see some growing herbs in the teapots in the garden. Let’s explore.
Art tour to Sainsbury’s Art Center
In the middle of the month, three of our residents enjoyed a day out at Sainsbury’s Art Centre with families accompanying. This was an educational and enjoyable trip out. The home could recognise some work of artists.
As big fans of art we shared a lot of lovely moments. One painting left a lot to our imagination as you can see from the photos. Can you guess which one? And which picture?
Ice cream van visits Oakwood House
On a warm day afternoon, we had a visit from a local ice cream van!
It was for residents and staff and relatives as well. Every resident could choose their favourite, with ice creams delivered to those in their rooms or the garden. Residents and staff cooled down with delicious, sweet treats. Guess what? Everyone had their choice, and nothing was better than freshly made ice cream in summer.
Fete Day
We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended our August Fete. The afternoon was spent learning about and stroking the cute animals from Kimmy’s Zoo.
Residents had a special visit from Benjamin, a dwarf rabbit, a sugar glider named Baloo, Stanley, the chinchilla, Fiona, the white tree frog, Rango, the chameleon, and Gary, the giant land snail.
Following this, we tested everyone’s knowledge with a Norfolk quiz presented by Wendy, our Activities Coordinator.
We teamed up into groups which were:
The Two Dumplings and Bisto Gravy
The Four Musketeers
Haven’t Got A Clue
The Bishy Barnabees
The Spice Girls
The A-Team
Well done to our winners who were ……??? You’ll have to go through our photos to find out! Keep a look out for our next Fete Day.
