On the evening of November 3rd, 2022, our team arrived at the Gala Dinner to receive an award for the Nursing and Social Care Award. It was a true honour to attend and be surrounded by so many amazing professionals and colleagues from across the local area.

This award isn’t just about a trophy; it’s confirmation of the exceptional clinical standards our residents rely on every day. Winning the Nursing in Social Care Award highlights the vital role our fabulous team of highly qualified nurses plays in keeping our residents healthy, safe, and at home.

Preventing Hospital Admissions: Our nurses proactively identify and manage changing health needs, working to prevent unnecessary hospital admissions and supporting those who live at Oakwood to enjoy life well.
A Whole-Team Approach: Our nursing team acts as a constant support and guide for everyone, the care staff, catering team, and ancillary teams, ensuring a unified, responsive, and truly person-centred care approach across all departments.
Proactive Care Excellence: We were recognised for excelling in proactive areas that dramatically improve quality of life, such as wound care, oral care, falls prevention, and providing dignified, expert end-of-life care.
Advocacy and Collaboration: Our nurses lead by example, building excellent working relationships with wider multi-disciplinary teams (GPs, therapists, etc.), ensuring every resident has a powerful advocate fighting for the best possible care outcomes.
