The Department of Health and Public Health England issued the latest guidance late afternoon Friday 13th 2020 on the management of the Coronavirus Covid-19 for Care Homes.
At Oakwood House we are committed to ensuring that we keep our residents and staff as safe as possible, and as a preventative measure we are asking that visiting is limited to a couple of close family members only.
Do not visit the Home if you have been in contact with anyone self-isolating, anyone who is known to have Covid-19, or anyone who has travelled abroad to the high risk areas. We are requesting that no children visit the Home at this time.
When family members attend the Home we have a sanitiser for hands outside the front door, and respectfully request that all visitors entering the building use this, following the poster guidance for effective hand decontamination. We are asking you to restrict your visiting to a minimum in order to keep your loved ones, and all our other residents, as safe as possible.
We have not taken this decision lightly, and appreciate that this may cause some anxiety, but feel that this is a necessary step to take.
Once inside the Home we request you go directly to your loved one’s room and visit them there only and not in the communal areas of the Home. If the resident is not in their room a member of staff will notify the resident and assist them to return to their room.
Our staff will do all they can to ensure that life in our Home remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. We have cancelled all external entertainment until further notice. We will still ensure that vital medical visits are made.
We would greatly appreciate your support with these measures for our residents in order to keep our residents safe, and that our staff are supported to continue to deliver great care. In the unfortunate event that we do have a case in our home we will need to stop all visiting completely and will inform you accordingly.
We will continue to monitor the situation and adhere to any revised guidance.
